TEHRAN – An Iranian troupe led by director/writer Alireza Seyyed premiered “Under Zero”, a grotesque comic play that portrays the ruin of thought and identity, at Tehran’s Divare Chaharom Theater on Tuesday.

The play is composed of four episodes with separate stories, each one set in different places and periods from Nazi Germany and communist Poland to modern developed Japan and the United States.

In a press release published on Wednesday, Seyyed said that the play reflects a global concern that is the devastation of thought and added, “A thought that is supposed to be free is restricted in a place where just the thought begins to become smaller and reduces to nothing and then goes under zero.”

The cast of “Under Zero” includes Rasul Hassanpur, Bahman Vakhshur, Sara Taqavi, Minu Maleki, Jalal Mohebi, Amir-Reza Jalali, Neda Golrangi, Ali Nobakht, Reza Sharafi, Hamidreza Asadzadeh and Mojtaba Kazemi.

The play will be on stage for 20 nights.
